These tools are provided free by Shields Precision Solutions, LLC ("we") at tools.shieldsprecision.com. By using them, you agree to the terms below.
What the tools are for
The traverse and level adjustment tools help land surveyors and survey technicians check and adjust their own field measurements. They're an aid to professional judgment, not a substitute for it. They don't provide surveying, engineering or legal advice, and using them doesn't create a professional relationship with us.
You're responsible for the results
Every result depends on the field data you provide and the settings you choose: held control, instrument accuracy, scale factors and elevation basis.
The surveyor in responsible charge must review and verify all coordinates, elevations and statistics before using them for any survey, plat, map, construction layout or other purpose.
Adjusted coordinates are tied to the held point and held direction stated in each report and notes file. They may need to be spatially aligned to your project's basis before use.
Warnings and checks are there to help catch problems. A clean report doesn't guarantee the field data is free of errors.
No warranty
The tools are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. We may change, limit or discontinue the tools at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Shields Precision Solutions, LLC is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the tools or reliance on their results. That includes survey errors, rework, boundary disputes and lost business. Because the tools are free, you agree that this limitation is reasonable.
Acceptable use
Don't upload files you don't have the right to use, try to disrupt or overload the service, or try to copy or reverse engineer the software. Uploads are limited to 5 MB.
Privacy: what happens to your files
Your field files aren't stored. Each upload is read in memory, adjusted and discarded when your report is returned. We don't keep copies of field data, coordinates or reports.
Registration. To download coordinate and notes files, you register once with your name, email and (optionally) company. We keep that in our Shopify customer list so we can contact you about the tools. We'll only send marketing emails if you tick the box to opt in, and you can unsubscribe anytime. We don't sell your information.
No tracking cookies. The tools don't set advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser remembers that you registered so you aren't asked again.
Basic server logs. Our hosting provider (Render) keeps standard request logs, such as IP address, time and the page or function requested, for security and troubleshooting. These logs don't contain your file contents.
Fonts. Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when the page loads.
Downloads you make (coordinate files, notes, reports) are created in your browser and saved only to your computer.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.
